Auto Guangzhou: Youngman’s L3 GT is not a pretty sight
Familiar sight in a foreign land? I was greeted by the Proton Gen.2 and Persona at the start of my Auto Guangzhou walkabout. Well, they weren’t officially Protons, but rebadged versions under the Europestar brand by Youngman Automobile Group.
Both the Gen.2 and Persona are called L3 and wear “Engineered by Lotus” emblems. Videos of Lotus sportscars sliding around were also playing at their stand. This is by far the most blatant attempt to ride on Lotus’ brand power I’ve ever seen and naturally, there are no mention of Proton whatsoever. Youngman does however name drop well known suppliers such as Bosch, Pilkington, Blaupunkt, Siemens and Posco. Continue reading...
